Horsehair

Animal hair / Fibres

These come from the coat of the animal, and therefore feature the qualities that are natural to that coat: providing warmth and insulation. The basic material involved is keratin, with a scaly structure that also allows these fibres to trap air (for heat insulation) and absorb moisture. Animal fires include animal hair, wool (sheep, camels, etc.), bird's feathers and down.

Horsehair

This is a collective term that covers the hair of horses, oxen, cattle, pigs and goats. The different materials are mixed or brought to market in the pure state depending on what's needed and the required price bracket. Hair from horses and oxen are equal in terms of quality and durability. Many horsehairs are made up purely of ox hair. The methods used for collection, processing and use are the same for both sorts and we therefore obtain 3 categories / qualities.

We use only pure tail hair from cattle or horses.

All of our tail hair is hot washed and cleaned to perfection. The hair gains its outstanding, unsurpassed bounce in vacuum steam, where it is sterilised and fixed. Our tail har is absolutely odourless.
